Attorney General Candidate in Yuma
Yuma, AZ Oct. 23 - Arizona Attorney General Candidate Felecia Rotellini visits the Desert Southwest. The democratic candidate is in Yuma this weekend campaigning for the 2010 elections.
Rotellini says, fighting crime is her life passion, and her goal is to keep Arizonan's safe. She says, "I want to change the culture in Arizona right now when it comes to financial fraud, security fraud, the mortgage loan modification problems that we're seeing. The attorney general can enforce the consumer protection laws against our national banks and mortgage services and those are areas we need to beef up."
Despite possibly losing votes in this upcoming election, Rotellini says she stands by her decision to not support Arizona's new immigration law. She says, "it's not about the vote it's about border security and Governor Brewer has said Senate Bill 1070 does not do anything to secure our border and as Attorney General and top law enforcement officer for the state my job is to secure the border and deal with criminal activity north of the border and I will do that."
As for Rotellini's Republican opponent Tom Horne, he supports SB 1070. However, Rotellini says as far as his experience he's never prosecuted a crime or a criminal. The democratic candidate says "if you look at my resume and the resume of my opponent you'll see I have a 17 year career of fighting crime, prosecuting criminals, protecting Arizona families, recovering millions of dollars for victims of fraud, and you want a qualified prosecutor running top law enforcement office, and I believe that's my job as a career prosecutor."
Rotellini has the support of several republicans and is endorsed by republican and former Arizona Attorney General, Grant Woods. According to the Rocky Mountain poll, Rotellini has more crossover votes from republicans then her opponent. Rotellini says "I believe it has to do with the fact I've been endorsed by very strong republican's and also my message as I've been traveling across the state, you'll see that my administration as attorney general will be about what's in your best interest."
