Rocky Mountain Poll: AG race a dead heat

Tom Horne and Felecia Rotellini are knotted up at equal support in their race for state attorney general, the Rocky Mountain Poll indicates.

The survey showed each of the two candidates drawing 34 percent of the vote among the registered voters contacted by the Behavior Research Center's Rocky Mountain Poll. An almost equal amount -- 32 percent -- was undecided.

Among likely voters, Horne holds a four-point lead, 40 percent to 36 percent. But that is within the poll's margin of error, which is plus or minus 4.7 points for the 450 voters contacted.

Each candidate draws heavy support from his or her own party, but Rotellini, a Democrat, is doing better job at attracting the cross-over vote, getting 16 percent of the Republican vote, compared to Horne pulling 9 percent of the Democratic vote.

Overall, the poll contacted 555 registered voters by telephone Oct. 1-10. That sample has a margin of error of plus or minus 4.2 percentage points. The poll is n independent, non-partisan survey.
