Horne Leaves Trail of Unanswered Questions

Two weeks before election, Horne owes explanation to voters.

PHOENIX – A number of questions about Tom Horne’s record and behavior remain unanswered as voters weigh their decision in the Attorney General race.

Despite repeated opportunities to address the gaps in his explanations of events and dispel lingering doubts about his ethical standards, Horne has given the press and the voters few answers. Among the most troubling questions are:

  • How will he credibly be able to prosecute securities fraud when he has been banned from selling securities for fraudulent practices?
  • How did he “forget” about the bankruptcy of the same business that earned him a lifetime ban from selling securities, as when he submitted false statements about it to the Arizona Corporation Commission?
  • Why has he chosen to give his campaign hundreds of thousands of dollars, as reported in his filings, instead of repaying the investors from his failed securities scheme?
  • If his record as Superintendent of Public Instruction is as good as he claims, why haven’t any teacher or parent organizations endorsed him?
  • What laws other than those he has repeatedly broken does he not think are important enough to comply with?

“We think it’s important that Tom Horne come clean with the people of Arizona and clear up his record,” said Joanna Peters, Felecia Rotellini’s campaign manager. “After all the revelations about his past, and his continuing pattern of deception and rule breaking, Tom Horne needs to promise the voters there won’t be any more surprises. We ask him to answer these questions as soon as possible, and encourage the news media and citizens of this state to keep demanding answers until he does.”
